Sedalia, Missouri Fishing At Shorey Pond

I recently decided to check out some of the local public fishing holes. Asking around town gave me some ideas and then doing some research.

Today, I took Gracie with me to check out a spot. WOW! Great spot. Very secluded, yet also accessible. I'd tell you how I found it but then you might be able to find too. So, no vehicles beyond this point or info on where it is. If you really want to know just email me. From henseforth and until further notice this fishing hole shall be known as Shorey Pond.

This is part of the walk down to Shorey Pond.

This is what you would first see. That is if you knew where it was and how to get there.

Here is the little beauty. It's not very big and there were two other people fishing it as well. I could see that if you showed up and there was more than four other fishermen, you might leave.

One of the things I liked about the spot is that is was just about fishing. No other distractions just you, the water, and some fish.

Gracie and only caught two, that seems to be our limit, I guess. We were only there about 2 hours. But there was a 30 minute period that we would throw the line in and "BAMM" a hit.

Gracie did reel one in this time after I hooked it. She attempted to take it off the hook all by herself. She might have got it but I didn't think the poor fish could have lived that long. As it is, I think the fish lost an eye. Oh well.

It appears at Shorey Pond a short cast near the bank is the place to have your line. The other two fishing said they fish it all the time and asked me not to tell anybody about the spot. Then they commented about how good Gracie was and how great it was to see a dad with his daughter fishing.

Clover Dell Lake

Clover Dell Lake is the newest lake in Sedalia. It is in Clover Dell Park which a 173 acres with soccer fields, archery targets, skeet shooting, remote control car speedway and of course fishing. The lake is 12 acres and is built kinda like a wide horseshoe shape. This gives a large walking path for fishing, right in the middle of the lake.
This picture is taken of the east side of Clover Dell Lake.
And this one is the west side. We started on the west side but all the fish we caught was from the east side.
I thought these dragonflies were interesting. I kept waiting for the moment that one would attack the girls but that moment never came. In fact, I don't recall any flies or bugs bothering us at all. There were also ducks and birds singing what sounded like their happy song. Of course it could have been their, hey man take your kids and leave me alone song, I don't know. But it was nice to hear.
This was the beginning of the day. Both girls were still in good spirits but even then getting them both to look at the camera at the same time was ... well let's just say it didn't happen.
Gracie spent most of her time digging for worms. I wish I would have known this before I bought some from the store. She had no problem touching the worm and was a little upset when I didn't let her try to take the fish off the hook.

Faithie spent her time running and soaking up the sun. Here she is trying to answer her tough question for the day. To wear or not to wear the sunglasses? It's great to be two.

Here is Gracie practicing her casting skills or at least trying to develop some. I've to got say I think she did okay at this for the first time. Considering I was in my twenties before my first fishing trip, she is way ahead of me.

Look her very first fish! Okay, she didn't catch it, I did. But she was just as happy. It's good to be five as well. Gracie had sat with me for about twenty minutes and then decided to see what Babydoll (my wife) was doing. So, she was not with me as I reeled it in or when I caught the second one. Too bad because I would have handed the pole to her, maybe next time.

All the girls were getting tired. Here they are catching some shade while I kept my line in the water just a little longer.

That's me full of Grace and Faith. Faith was so funny, she could not leave the line in the water for even a moment. Cast, reel, cast, reel, cast, reel...
"Faithie, you know we can't catch fish if we don't leave our line in the water?"
"Yes!" with clapping hands and big smile. Like she was really saying "who needs fish when you can reel in the worm".

Several hours later Faith had had enough and Grace was being enough. I tired to get in one last picture with the two of them together. Faith cried and asked for a nap. "I wanna go na-night". That means it time to go home.
All in all we had fun at Clover Dell Lake.

Laker's' 15th Title, Ah No Make That Number 10

The Los Angeles Lakers are the NBA Champions, but they are not going to win any math contests. This is not their 15th championship.

The Lakers and Boston Celtics have battled to be the best in the NBA for a long time. The Celtics have maintained the overall edge in this battle by winning more championships.

To compete with the Celtics for the total number of banners, the Lakers stole five championships and, in one single night, put five banners up in their rafters.

How could they do this?

They laid claim to five titles won by the Minneapolis Lakers.

If the L.A. Lakers had wanted these titles early on after the move from Minnesota, then there would be no beef. Yet, they waited more than 30 years to claim these titles. That is way too long.

In today’s sports climate, the Los Angeles Lakers would not even be able to call themselves the Lakers, much less lift these five titles. Just ask the fans of the Seattle Sonics, who ensured that Oklahoma City would not take their titles.

Hollywood is infamous for making changes to a story for dramatic affect, and it has managed to do the same thing with its beloved L.A. Lakers. It is time for the record to be set straight and the stolen titles returned to NBA fans in Minnesota.

Congratulations to the L.A. Lakers on winning their 10th NBA championship.
